Taste
Blanton's Red Label is a premium expression crafted specially for the Japanese Export Market, distinguished by an extended aging process of an additional two years. This bourbon is created with Mash Bill #2, a unique sour mash of corn, malted barley, and extra rye, maturing gracefully in American White Oak casks. The aromatic profile showcases a delightful blend of fruity and sweet notes, with vibrant cherry alongside rich caramel, dried oak, honey, and vanilla. On the palate, experience subtle hints of honey intertwined with fennel, licorice, ginseng, dry citrus peel, and a touch of cinnamon, culminating in a silky, smooth finish enriched by powerful oak influence, harmoniously blended with honey, herbs, and all spice.

History
Blanton's Red Label is best known as "liquid gold"! It was produced in 1984 under the guidance of Elmer T. Lee, Master distiller at the George T. Stagg Distillery, now known as the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery. There he worked with Colonel Albert Bacon Blanton, the President of the Distillery from 1921-1951. During the time he worked for him, he noticed that whenever there were ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton's family and friends, he would always choose a bottle aged at warehouse H at Buffalo Trace. This unique warehouse, the only metal-clad one at the distillery, was constructed shortly after prohibition, and its metal structure resulted in significant temperature fluctuations during aging, which affected how the whisky developed its flavors. The whisky is aged for 6-8 years and has a higher rye content, contributing to its distinctive taste. Blanton's is committed to quality, producing a limited amount each year, making it highly sought after. In 1999, the introduction of eight different horse stoppers to the bottles added to its collectibility; each stopper features a letter that spells out “B-L-A-N-T-O-N'-S” while showcasing various positions of a horse race. These stoppers are visible upon purchase, though some letters can be quite elusive. Blanton assures fans that it produces the same number of each stopper annually. Notably, bottles found overseas contain 700 ml, while domestic releases are 750 ml.
