A rare piece of Speyside history. Distilled in 1989, this Mortlach spent over three decades in a bourbon hogshead before a finishing period of 21 months in two first-fill PX sherry octaves adding a final layer of richness.
Aromas of barley sugar and beeswax are complemented by creamy fudge, dried apricot and fruity oak on the palate. The PX cask has brought a great depth and a refined finish that is sweet and malty.
Mortlach rarely bottles its own whisky, so independent releases like this remain one of the best ways to experience 'The Beast of Dufftown' at full maturity.
Bottled in 2025 at 40.1% abv, with just 179 bottles in existence, this is a genuine collector's piece.
